A Commissioning Engineer is required with strong radio communications experience (RF/HF/UHF/VHF). This position requires generalist RF technical skills covering the lifecycle including development, configuration, testing, quality assurance, customer presentation and sign off. Thales is one of Europe’s largest defence suppliers, with an annual turnover in excess of €10 billion for the whole Group across our six core business areas of Aerospace, Air Systems, Land and Joint Systems, Naval, Security and Services. As a Commissioning Engineer you will: • Carry out Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) at the company home premises. • Set To Work (STW) & commission equipment / systems (UK & overseas). • Carry out engineering investigations on “in service” equipment. • Work in a department of Circa 35 engineers on 1-2 month project lifecycles. • Work on contracts up to £200k in value. • Plan & prepare all relevant activities prior to “on site” STW. • Carry out STW of equipment & systems at the customer premises. • Achieve customer acceptance of the equipment & system. • Fault find & repair equipment and systems in the field. • Conduct “On the job” training courses for operators & equipment maintenance. • Provide technical assistance to production to resolve problems effectively. • Carry out engineering investigations on “in service” equipment. As Commissioning Engineer your skills and qualifications will ideally include: • Experience in the field of H/VHF Radio Communication & Radio products. • Experience working with UK & overseas Defence/Governmental organisations. • Knowledge of RF techniques • A minimum of HNC / HND in Electronic Engineering / equivalent discipline. • Good organisation skills, be motivated, confident, and outgoing. • Good interpersonal skills and a can do approach to tasks. • This role will require regular travel potentially at short notice, so a highly flexible attitude to work schedules is a necessity.
