We are seeking to appoint three Technicians and a Second Engineer within the National Marine Facilities – Sea Systems Division, part of the National Oceanography Centre Southampton, a collaborative centre between the Natural Environment Research Council and the University of Southampton. You will be responsible for the configuration, maintenance and operation of scientific systems permanently installed into the vessel, including (but not be limited to) computing and networking, acoustic instrumentation, communications, navigational systems, ocean/atmosphere measurement and sampling systems. You will be required to work as part of the embarked technical and scientific teams to ensure the day to day achievement of science objectives, providing general support as required It is essential that you have an HNC/HND in an engineering discipline or a degree in a related discipline, which must be supported by a recognized engineering apprenticeship. Strong practical and theoretical computing skills are required, allied to an innovative approach to problem solving. An additional supplement may be available for exceptional candidates.
